Joong Boo Market – Lollipop Korean Wings

Joong Boo Market Wings

Joong Boo Market Sweet Wings

Walking into Joong Boo Market is almost like stepping into a different world for this American. Shelves are lined with rows and rows of amazing Korean goods. In the back of the market there is a counter with delicious cooked foods. Among them, lollipop chicken wings. Lollipop means that the drummets have their meat push to the end of the bone giving a round appearance. Also, lollipopping chicken makes the wings much easier to eat as they have built in handles!

The sauce is very sweet and the exterior is almost candy. It makes the wing a bit too sweet for my liking. The sauce contains notes of spice and a soy which I think could be dialed up. The batter is fried but then packaged into plastic containers ( he wings are predone)which cause the wings to steam. The steam takes away from any crispy exterior that the wings have. The paddles are medium sized while the lollipop drummets are slightly smaller.

You pay $11 for seven paddles and five lollipops. Overall, the wings are a bit too sweet but unique in their lollipopped nature which makes them fun to eat. They are a good but not great example of Korean wings.
