Nando’s Peri Peri Mango Lime Marinated Wings

Nando’s Peri Peri is generally one of the best chain restaurants around and is quite popular for their flavorful marinated chicken and abundance of spicy sauces. However, their wings, while sounding appealing, are a true failure. Nando’s chicken comes in a multitude of different marinades as pictured above these are the mango lime, generally the best flavor.

Flavor wise these wings, unlike their larger chicken piece counterparts, lacked any hint of marinade or sauce so they tasted like plain grilled chicken. It is such a shame because Nando’s mango lime marinade is such an different flavor. A little char can be tasted and a light smoky flavor is present from the grill, but other than that, these wings are devoid of taste. The texture of the wings is quite lacking as well due to the wings being grilled instead of fried. The skin is not crispy at all and some wings were overcooked and very dry.

You can see in the picture the wings are minuscule and lack any real meat on the bones and the ends are predominantly gristle. So while you may only pay $1.15 per wing, you are getting a much worse deal in terms of price-to-meat ratio than most other places. Overall, stay away from the wings when going to Nando’s as they have much, much better options.
